Visiting artist and scholar Greg Blair will be delivering a talk on Tues., Oct. 18 from 6 - 7 p.m. in the Fazio Jury Room located on the first floor across from the Bob and Kathy Luke Library in Giles Hall.
Blair is an artist, writer and educator that resides in Evansville, Indiana, with his wife, two children, and their energetic firecracker of a dog, Luna. Currently, Blair is an Assistant Professor of Art and Design at the University of Southern Indiana where he teaches digital design and art history courses. His research incorporates multidisciplinary art practices, mobility studies, cultural geography, environmental aesthetics, and philosophies of place. Blair has exhibited his artwork and presented his research both nationally and internationally. His latest book project, The Politics of Spatial Transgressions in the Arts, was published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2021.
“My scholarly research and art making practice are highly eclectic and intentionally intertwine various forms of writing, publishing, zines, sculpture, photography, sound art, earth art, installation and video," he said. "Each of my assorted activities are grounded in the exploration and understanding of place. This conceptual foundation is blended with an array of other fields of interest including music, popular culture, punk culture, political resistance, idioms, topography, mobility, graphic design, and conceptual art.”
