Art Students

The Mississippi State University Department of Art offers the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD), the department offers three concentrations:  fine arts (including emphasis areas in ceramics, drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture), graphic design, and photography.

Art 4630 | Advanced Sculpture

Assignment #1 "Sculpture Sign" 

Objectives:

  • Create a SCULPTURE sign for permanent installation at the sculpture area entrance.
  • Each of us will produce a dimensional letter spanning approx. 12”
  • Implement method of creating dimensional forms from sheet metal using plasma cutting and welding.
  • Letters should be painted/sealed.

Advanced Studio - Fine Arts develops advanced studio skills and professional practice and is taken with Senior Research and Thesis courses to create capstone artwork.
