Application Process
To be eligible for interior design scholarships at Mississippi State University, students must fill out the general scholarship application by the appropriate deadline.
Steps to apply for Scholarships at MSU
- Student must be admitted.
- Log in to your MyState account using your NetID and NetPassword.
- On the Banner tab, under the Financial Aid and Scholarships column, click "Submit/Revise General Scholarship Application."
- A new window will pop up, and you'll need to log in again using your NetID and NetPassword.
- When you're logging in for the first time, you'll need to complete the general application.
- Don't forget to click the "Save" button! When you're returning after your first log-in, you'll be able to see your saved information.
After you complete and submit your general application, you may have additional opportunities recommended to you based on your test scores, GPA, leadership and service, and applicant record. More opportunities may become available over time, so we encourage you to log in regularly and check your account to see if any additional recommendations appear.
Application Deadlines
Incoming Freshmen: December 1 (for the following academic yr.)
Entering Transfer Students and Current Mississippi State Students: March 1 (for the following academic yr.)
Mississippi State University Interior Design-Specific Scholarships
In addition to scholarships offered through the Office of Admissions and Scholarships and other scholarships, there are a variety of scholarships available for interior design students. The number of scholarships awarded and scholarship dollar amounts vary by year:
Cindy W. Simpson Endowed Scholarship
Open to full-time undergraduate students majoring in interior design. Students must be in good standing and must demonstrate leadership qualities/potential.
Cindy W. Simpson Loyalty Scholarship
Open to incoming freshman and transfer students majoring in the College of Architecture, Art & Design with a minimum 3.0 GPA; transfer students must have a minimum of 48 transferable community college credit hours.
Cristi Moore Endowed and Annual Scholarship
This scholarship was established to benefit interior design students who have an interest in hospitality design. Candidates must have at least a 3.5 GPA.
Linda M. Clark Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Interior design students are eligible in the spring of their second-year in the program. Recipients are awarded based on GPA, campus involvement, and involvement in the Interior Design Program.
Martha Nash Memorial Scholarship
Interior design students demonstrating financial need are eligible.
Sherry Wingo Memorial Scholarship
Interior design students are eligible in the spring of their second-year in the program. Recipients are awarded based on GPA, campus involvement, and involvement in the Interior Design Program.
External Scholarships Available to Interior Design Students
There are numerous scholarships available nationally to students studying interior design. In recent years, MSU interior design students have received the following:
Celia Moh Scholarship
The Celia Moh Scholarships cover the cost of full-time tuition, fees, room, board and books for college juniors and seniors at Appalachian State University, Catawba Valley Community College, East Carolina University, High Point University, Kendall College of Art & Design, Mississippi State University, North Carolina State University, and Virginia Tech. Gilchrist Memorial Scholarship
Awarded by the Southeastern Home Furnishings Association
The American Home Furnishings Alliance Scholarship
The world’s largest, most influential trade organization in home furnishings provides scholarships targeted toward students planning careers in the furniture and home-furnishings industries. Eligible students must be pursuing furniture and home furnishings-related degrees and are selected based on their commitment to the furniture industry as well as GPA and class standing. WithIt Scholarship
The WithIt Foundation is a not-for-profit organization driven by its belief that women should play a major role in the growth and future of the home and furnishings industries. WithIt established its scholarship foundation to recognize and nurture the academic endeavors of preeminent college students enrolled full time in fields of study that would logically lead to careers in the home and furnishings industries.
